The creation of Southpointe included the development of Southpointe Golf Course and Golf Club, the Fairway Landings and Ironwood residential communities, Southpointe Commons and several office buildings, all located approximately 15 miles from Pittsburgh and approximately 20 miles from Pittsburgh International Airport. Located in a growth corridor on I-79 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, Southpointe has established a reputation as an economic development catalyst for the region, employing approximately 10,000 people but also fostering the growth of large multi-national companies and smaller local companies alike.
Horizon's portfolio of properties and projects, includes Southpointe II, the extension of Southpointe I that is currently under construction. Evergreene Technology Park is a 250 acre business park located in Waynesburg, Greene County PA. Horizon partnered with the Greene County Industrial Corporation to master plan and initiate the development of office and high tech industrial buildings. The Greene Tech I office building was completed in 2007 and won the NAIOP Speculative building award in 2008.
Southpointe Golf Club is the focal point of Southpointe - an elegant and challenging 18-hole championship golf course winding its way along the natural terrain. The principals of Horizon Properties Group were the leading developers of the golf club, lending their insight to the initial planning phase and turnkey development services of the club project. Arthur Hills, founding principal of Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates, designed the course and the clubhouse, marrying a traditional country club feel with a fairway that encourages golfers to bring their "A game."
