The principals of Horizon Properties
have successfully planned and developed Mixed-Use Developments including
Southpointe, a 589-acre project in Western Pennsylvania south of
Pittsburgh. Rod Piatt, while at Millcraft Investments, and Michael
Swisher, while at Team Plan Inc., were the key principals who developed
the Southpointe Master Plan in 1985 and initiated private development
at Southpopinte beginning in 1992. The execution of the Master Plan
was led by them and included the development of the Southpointe
Golf Course and Golf Club, Fairway Landings and Ironwood Residential
Communities, The Iceoplex at Southpointe, Southpointe Commons and
several office buildings.
The Southpointe project owes its existence to a unique partnership
that developed between the private and public sectors that mutually
set out to create a dynamic development with the goal of creating
job opportunities for the residents of Washington County. The master
plan for the 589-acre mixed-use development includes commercial
and professional office sites, research and development, high technology
and light industrial sites, single family home sites and town-home
sites, an 18-hole championship golf course with a club house and
a hotel and conference center scheduled for completion in 2001.
